My mom reviews: Middlesex

I have decided to start sharing my mom’s book reviews from Goodreads. You should listen to her. I’ll post them here as she writes them.

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eudenides, 2002
Published by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux (US) and Bloomsbury (UK)

This is an amazing novel. Even though I had a pretty good idea of the story from what I had already heard and read about it – it was mesmerizing. I could barely put it down. I had read The Virgin Suicides and was a fan of Eugenides already but this book goes on my all time best reads list – along with To Kill a Mockingbird and other works of genius. Several reviewers have complained that the first part of the book which goes back in time 2 generations is too long and just too much information. I think it is edited perfectly and the story can’t be told without going all the way back to Greece. Love this book.
